About & methodology

Where the data comes from

Digital Nomad DIY aggregates two kinds of data: structured listing data (addresses, prices, amenities, hours) for coworking spaces, cafés, and libraries; and crowd-sourced measurements from visitors who run our in-browser speed test at the venue. This MVP is seeded entirely with clearly-labeled sample data — the listings are not real businesses and the numbers are illustrative. Before relying on any figure, replace the seed with verified listings and real crowd tests.

How the speed test works

The test runs entirely in your browser. It measures latency with five repeated round trips, download by fetching a pseudo-random payload four times and taking the best sample, and upload by sending a payload to our server. Results are reported per city and per venue as 30-day medians with 25th–75th percentile bands. We store only the three numbers (download, upload, ping) and a timestamp — never your IP address or identity. Submissions are rate-limited and bot-checked with a honeypot field.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on city pages (eSIM providers, day-pass booking) are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every affiliate link is visually labeled Sponsored and marked rel="sponsored". Ratings and medians are never influenced by commercial relationships — paid placement is limited to the clearly-labeled Featured workspace slot.
